Instructions: How to Make Easy Healthy Vegan Pear Cream Topping

Pull out your blender.

If you don’t have a powerful blender like a Vitamix make sure your pear cream comes out creamy smooth. Soak a cup cashews the night before. Rinse the cashews before putting into the blender.

Alternatively, you can place a cup of cashews in a saucepan, cover with water and boil for 3 to 5 minutes. Then rinse with cool water and add it to the blender. This will also give you a creamy texture for your pear cream.

Place the cashews, pears with their juices, a good quality salt like hymalian salt, and vanilla extract into the blender.

Blend all the ingredients until you achieve a creamy texture. Raw cashew can have a gritty texture if you don’t blend them for long enough with a powerful enough blender. If this is an issue here are a couple options.

Refrigerate to cool and serve on top of your favourite breakfast or dessert.

You may serve warm or room temperature if you desire. Both tastes amazingly delicious!

Variations of Vegan Pear Cream

  • Leave out the vanilla extract or use maple extract in place of vanilla for a slightly different flavour.
  • Try adding a little cinnamon.
  • Freeze the pear cream for a frozen dessert option.

How to get a creamy pear cream texture without a Vitamix?

  1. To make a creamy pear cream topping, use a powerful blender like a Vitamix.
  2. If you don’t have a powerful blender or the pear cream isn’t getting creamy try soaking the cashews for a few hours or overnight before blending.
  3. Skip the soaking, try boiling the cashews in enough water to cover them for 3-5 minutes. Rinse, then add the cashews to the blender.

Any of these options will give you the creamy texture for the pear cream that you’re looking for.

What if I don’t have home canned pears?

If you don’t can your own pears then you can use store bought canned pears instead to equal 4 cups (32oz). Just read the labels to see if they added sugar if you are trying to keep this a low sugar treat.

What do you eat vegan pear cream with?
