So many bum cream choices, what’s a mama to choose?
Have you felt over whelmed by all the options for diaper rash cream on the market? I grew up hearing that Penaten was the only way to go. Somehow by the time I had my first baby I’d figured out that it was not natural and was actually petroleum based.
I scanned it on the Yuka app and it got a wapping 4/100! It has toxic ingredients that actually contained hazardous health risks that the app outlined. So needless to say this sent me on a journey to find natural bum cream that worked on bad rashes plus a natural diaper rash cream for cloth diapers too.
Whatever bum cream your going to use, I’d recommend you look up the ingredients on either the Yuka app or EWG Skin Deep for yourself first.
A Natural Diaper Rash Cream, works on really bad rashes
First, I discovered Burt’s Bees baby diaper ointment. This product works great with really bad rashes as it doesn’t wash off.
However, personally for my baby who had sensitive skin, over time it still irritated the skin with prolonged use.
Another downfall is I didn’t like using it when cloth diapering as it it contains zinc oxide, which builds up a barrier on the cloth diapers preventing absorption. Not something you want when cloth diapering.
I found it is best to use it sparingly or not at all as it contains glyceryl rosinate which scores as a 5 on EWG Skin Deep giving Burt’s Bees baby diaper rash ointment an overall score of 3. (On EWG Skin Deep a score of 1 is the best, so 3 is not super good, nor is it really bad.)
I wanted the best for my babies so I kept looking, below is what I found!
